Where Do I Find The Best Affiliate Programs?

The same question is regularly asked by both seasoned veterans and newcomers: What and where are the greatest affiliate programs?

In order for me to respond to this question, I'll have to answer it with a series of questions.

To begin, you should ask yourself, "What am I interested in?"

Then, what do you have some knowledge of?

There are several resources, as well as an affiliate program, to fit almost any interest you may have or knowledge of.

Let's try if we can't make choosing the top affiliate programs to advertise a little easier.

Go to http://clickbank.com/ for more information.

This is my go-to place for finding the most popular shows. They tell you what proportion of each sale you'll get and how much it'll cost you in dollars and cents.

They also show more statistics about each program that will assist you in determining whether or not the program you selected is appropriate for you to market.

http://www.linkshare.com/ is your next option.

LinkShare invented online affiliate marketing and now operates the world's largest pay-for-performance affiliate network.

It is the largest successful pay-for-performance network of its type, with over 10 million partnerships.

Then there's Commission Junction, which may be found at http://www.cj.com/.

Develop long-term partnerships with top-tier advertising to maximize your revenue potential. You'll be compensated for each sale and lead you to generate.

Take your program to the next level with their industry-exclusive solution for top-performers for qualifying publishers.

There are other equally trustworthy affiliate program providers on the internet, but I'm going to limit these resources to the top three for the purpose of simplicity and to keep this article as short as possible.

You may simply go to your preferred search engine and type in "Affiliate Program Resources" to continue your search.

Knowing a little about the product you intend to sell will help you, but it is not needed. After all, this is The Information Super Highway, where we may find whatever information we require.

There are numerous tools at our disposal. All you need to know is where they are and what they'll say.

A smart location to start your search is Google.com. You'll get a list of literally millions of prospective programs if you type "affiliate programs" into the search box. There were 111,000,000 affiliate programs to choose from at the time of this writing (7-12-06). That astounds me (:-(

You won't have to sift through a lot of websites. The opening few pages of your document should provide you some ideas for what you want to promote.

Try to stick with something in which you have some experience.

Let's imagine you've been working in a pet store for a long time. See if you can't discover a pet-related affiliate program. Pet food, training, and care, for example. You could wish to focus on specific pets, such as dogs or dog training. Dog training and dog breeds are "HOT" markets right now, and I expect them to remain so for a long time.

Let's imagine you've decided on Dog Breeds as a research topic. It's time to look into that subject and see if there's a market for it.

Type Dog Breeds into the search box at Overture.com. In April 2006, I discovered that there were 184,184 searches on this issue. This is definitely a subject I'd like to learn more about.

I'd head to Nichebot.com and type those same keywords into the search field to follow up on that bit of information. The information you receive will be a great tool in deciding which affiliate program to join.

Pay special attention to the column on the far right. Less competition is determined by numbers that are closer to zero. Look for something in that category and copy the terms to Google.com, where you can conduct another search. I'm confident you'll be able to join and promote a program.

Find a program with at least a 50% commission, which equates to at least $20 in your pocket. If at all feasible, more.

If you're selling a high-ticket item, you can choose a program with a lower commission. "It takes as much effort to promote High-Ticket Items as it does to promote a program for a $20.00 Sale," is a good rule of thumb to remember.

So why waste time and money promoting products that only pay out a $20.00 commission when the same amount of time and money may get you a $200.00 commission? It makes perfect logic, and the math backs it up.

Small ticket items require the same amount of time and effort to promote as big-ticket items. The advantage is that you don't have to sell as many of the more expensive items as you do with the cheaper ones.

The best advice I can give is to be patient and to make use of as many free tools as possible to advertise your activities.

There are numerous. Purchase your own domain name and web hosting. You'll want to create a site that is distinct from the owner's generic affiliate site.

As you will not be promoting the same website as a thousand other marketers, you will be placed in a different category.

It will help enhance your credibility as someone who is serious about their online business.

Patience is seen as a virtue. If you can, get it, and by the way, Happy Marketing!
